Notifications

Choose which operator alerts Doorwick sends, how much they reveal on a lock screen, and what to check when a push stays quiet.

What Doorwick can send

Notification controls are being released in stages. Until Doorwick announces that a channel is live for your workspace, saved choices may be evaluated during release validation without changing legacy routing.
Conversation needs a human
A push when a conversation is handed off and needs an operator. These alerts are immediate and use the high-priority handoff channel on Android.
Visitor replies
A push when a visitor replies in a conversation being handled by a person. Several quick replies in one conversation may be grouped into one visible alert.
Handoff email
An email when a conversation needs a human. Email has its own switch and is not silenced by push quiet hours.

Global defaults and workspace overrides

Your global choices are the starting point across every workspace. A workspace override can set handoff push, visitor-reply push, handoff email, or preview privacy differently for that workspace.

Choose Use global for one setting to inherit that default again. Choose Use all global defaults to reset the whole workspace override. A reset also inherits future changes you make to the global defaults.

Quiet hours and preview privacy

Quiet hours suppress pushes during the selected window; they do not hold old alerts and deliver them in a burst later. The selected time zone stays fixed until you change it. Email remains active unless you turn off handoff email.

Full preview
Shows the visitor name and a short, bounded message preview.
Sender only
Shows who replied, with generic event text instead of their message.
Generic
Shows only a Doorwick alert with generic copy — the safest choice for shared or frequently visible devices.
Notification previews never replace opening the conversation. Doorwick checks your current workspace access again when the thread loads.

Device permission and registration health

Doorwick for iOS and Android is still in release validation. Device-specific guidance in this section applies to authorized preview and internal builds until store availability is announced.

The This device panel separates your Doorwick choices from the operating system's permission and this installation's registration. On Android it also reports when a Doorwick notification channel is disabled. A preference can be on while the device still blocks the alert.

If permission or a channel is blocked, choose Open Settings, allow notifications, and return to Doorwick. Registration retries while the signed-in app is active, when connectivity returns, and the next time the app comes to the foreground.

What delivery status means

Accepted means Expo accepted Doorwick's request. Confirmed means Apple Push Notification service or Firebase Cloud Messaging accepted it from Expo. Neither status proves that the phone displayed the alert, played a sound, or that a person saw it — the operating system, Focus or Do Not Disturb, battery policy, and channel settings still decide that.

If pushes are not appearing

  1. Check that the relevant Doorwick global or workspace setting is on.
  2. Check whether quiet hours are active in the displayed time zone.
  3. Read the This device panel for blocked permission, registration retry, or a disabled Android channel.
  4. Open system settings and check Doorwick, Focus or Do Not Disturb, sound, and channel choices.
  5. Bring Doorwick to the foreground with a working connection so registration can recover.

The inbox remains the source of truth. Refresh it after reconnecting if an alert was delayed or never displayed.
